SEnior to-do list

URGENT!!!
If you have been accepted to a university or received a scholarship, please click here to notify us. We need that information for the district. And we want to congratulate you.

For those planning to attend 4-year colleges:
  1. Apply to at least 3 colleges online (applytexas.org for most Texas colleges, or look on your colleges' websites for private or out-of-state schools)
  2. Send supplemental materials to your colleges
    1. Transcripts requested on GPHS homepage under STUDENTS tab.
    2. Fee or fee waiver (if requesting fee waiver, Google your university's name application fee waiver to see what to send)
    3. ACT/SAT scores from your ACT/SAT account (if you didn't send them when you tested, it will cost $13 now)--if you haven't tested, register TODAY!
    4. Meningitis shot record (may not be required for acceptance, but will be required before you can officially register)
  3. Check your colleges' online portals and your email at least twice per week to make sure you don't miss any to-do items!
  4. Complete and submit FAFSA or TASFA application. See the Free Money link on this site for details.
  5. Apply for scholarships at your colleges and outside--at least 2 per week!
  6. Prepare for the TSIA test if you have not proven college readiness (23+ on ACT, 480 EBRW and 530 Math for SAT, 4000 on English III EOC or Algebra II EOC) and if you plan to attend a Texas college. Download the Accuplacer App to study, or accuplacer.collegeboard.org.

For those planning to attend a community college:
  1. Fill out ApplyTexas.org application (NOTE: You will not need to send transcripts, ACT scores, or fees for community college. They want your final graduation transcript only. There are no fees and you only need to send ACT scores if you got 23 or higher to be exempt from TSIA exam.
  2. Meet with your college admission counselor (NOTE: The San Jac counselor, Ms. Johnson, is in the GPHS counselors' office!)
  3. Complete and submit FAFSA or TASFA application. See the Free Money link on this site for details.
  4. Apply for scholarships at your colleges and outside--at least 2 per week! Community colleges are cheap, but they aren't free!
  5. Turn in your meningitis shot record. You can give this to the San Jac Shared Planner who works in the GPHS counselors' office.
  6. Prepare for the TSIA test if you have not proven college readiness (23+ on ACT, 480 EBRW and 530 Math for SAT, 4000 on English III EOC or Algebra II EOC). Download the Accuplacer App to study.
